A NOVEL SCHEDULING MECHANISM OF UPLINK BANDWIDTH ALLOCATION FOR IEEE 802.16(WIMAX) WIRELESS NETWORKS
IEEE 802.16 standard series have defined a connectionoriented MAC and the signalling mechanism for information exchange. However they left the QoS based packetscheduling algorithms that determine the uplink and downlink bandwidth allocation undefined. This paper proposes a novel scheduling mechanism for uplink bandwidth allocation in WiMAX networks. Detailed discussion on the scheduling discipline for each part of the proposal, especially the aggregating scheduler, is provided. Simulation results show that our scheme is able to provide QoS for various services, and moreover it improves the delay performance of real-time services evidently.
