AN EFFICIENCY-FIRST ROAMING METHOD FOR MOBILE TV SERVICES

How to make roaming users access the mobile TV services efficiently and safely is very important for mobile TV services. This paper introduces a traditional security-first roaming method and proposed an efficiency-first method to optimize the roaming service flow by storing the authentication information, subscription data and service key on the visiting network caches. This method shortened the transmission time and improved users’ experience with little security cost. Using MATLAB, we can see that the efficiency-first method makes a great improvement on performance against the security-first method. Compensated by some security protocol, the security of the efficiency-first roaming method can also be guaranteed.
