A SCALABLE BEHAVIOURAL MODEL FOR CROWD SIMULATION
We present a behavioral animation model for crowd simulation which can simulate combined behavior of huge crowds, also can preserve the granularity of simulation at the individual level. In our model, we adopt a hierarchy composed of virtual crowds, groups and agents, and then we continue to divide the agents into Group agents and Character agents. Group agents represent those individuals share the same motion characteristic of a group and Character agents are those individuals having different motion characteristic distinct from their respective Group agents. At the same time, the combination of rules and finite state machine can control different level of behavioural autonomy for controlling groups or agents. We demonstrate our model through manifest the crowd simulation including the predator and prey flocks.
