A NOVEL PROTECTION SWITCHING AND AUTOMATIC RESTORATION SCHEME FOR PONS WITH DOUBLE-RING TOPOLOGY
This paper proposes a novel protection switching and restoration scheme for PONs with double-ring topology, which can provide high reliability at low cost through protection switching even in the event that multiple fiber breaks occur in PONs. Moreover, the automatic restoration in the scheme can solve signal disturbing problem after repair of fiber breaks. Furthermore the number of ONUs supported by OLT in this scheme is larger than one in traditional PON ring.
