SYNTHESES AND PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF POLY(TETRAHYDROFURAN)-POLY(2-ETHYL-2-OXAZOLINE)ABA TRIBLOCK COPOLYMERS.
Introduction ABA-type of a triblock-copolymer is well known as a class of compounds which give rise to materials with interesting physical properties. If the A blocks are polymer chains with the high glass transition temperature (Fg), or the high melting point and the B block is a amorphous or low Tg polymer, and the each segment of the block-copolymer formed phase separated structure, the block-copolymers are thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). The mechanical properties of TPE can be controlled by the fraction of each block. In this study, the ABA block-coplymer (PTHF-POxz) in which A is poly(2-ethyloxazoline) (POxz) block and B is polytetrahydrofurane (PTHF) block was synthesized by the living ring opening polymerization and investigated the mechanical properties of PTHF-POxz.
