ON THE RELATIONSHIP AMONG PROCESS-STRUCTURE-PERFORMANCE OF NYLON 6 FIBERS

Poly(ε-caprolactam), otherwise polyamide-6 (PA6) or nylon 6, has been widely used as one of the most important engineering plastics and is also commercially produced in the form of fibers and films. The potential of developing novel high performance materials keeps the research area around nylon 6 active for almost 80 years. Recently, systematic work has been carried out on the development of novel technology to manufacture fine dinnier nylon 6 fibers in our lab. To improve the quality of final product, it is necessary to enhance our understanding on the relationship among processing-structure-performance of nylon 6. Our work covers the following two aspects:
