NEO-HOOKEIAN ELASTICITY DETERMINED BY STATISTICAL RE-ORIENTATION OF STRETCHED MOLECULAR TRAINS
Rubber elasticity has been treated by several theoretic considerations. However, they are only partially supported by experimental results. The elasticity at high extension ratio still has basic theoretic importance for further study. In this research, the average stretching direction, local rotation angular, and stretching ratio parameters are used to express the deformation of molecular trains in statistical sense. Based on this micro geometrical deformation, the macro deformation of rubber is expressed. Then, using intrinsic elasticity concept, the neo-Hookeian stress-strain relation is obtained. This result explains the experimental features well.
