DIFFERENT POLY(E-CAPROLACTOEN) RING-BANDED SPHERULITES GROWN FROM SOLUTION WITH CONTROLLABLE CONCENTRATION -CRYSTALS MORPHOLOGY MODULATED BY POLYMER CHAINS DIFFUSION AND CRYSTALS GROWTH VELOCITY:
The two competitive parameters, the diffusion of polymer chains J and the crystals growth velocity V, determine the morphologies and structures of crystals through control of the crystals growth processes. Compared with that in melt crystallization, J and V can conveniently be modulated in solution crystallization by controlling the solvent evaporation rate and, consequently, the related concentration change of the solution. In this work, poly(s-caprolactone) ring-banded spherulites grown from solution with controllable concentration were investigated to manifest how J and V dictate the morphologies and structures of aggregation of lamellar crystals.
