SINGLE CHAIN DIFFUSION AT LIQUID POLYMER INTERFACES

The rheological properties of the interfaces between two immiscible liquids has been receiving research attention because it helps us to understand the basic physics of a number of applications, such as polymer blends, emulsion, micro- and nanofluidics, etc. Although research efforts have been made to study the rheology and dynamics of the liquid-liquid interfaces, especially between two immiscible polymers, most works are conducted by theoretical analysis or computer simulations. to explore this issue experimentally, there have been studies using particle-based micro-rheology techniques as well as X-ray photon correlation spectroscopy. In order to scale down the measurement so that single molecule dynamics can be studied, here, we use single polymer chain as a probe to study the viscosity at a model liquid-liquid interface, by single molecule fluorescence techniques.
