CHARACTERIZATION OF WETTING PROPERTY AND SURFACE MORPHOLOGY OF NATURAL KAPOK FIBER

Natural kapok fiber is endowed with special wetting property of hydrophobic and oleophilic, and has attracted intensively research interests. The utilization of natural kapok is extended from the traditional packing material, sound insulation stuff to nowadays special military buoyancy material and oil absorption material, which also indicates the significant importance of wetting property besides its structure trait1. However, report on the comprehensive investigation of the interrelationship between its special wetting property and its surface chemical component and morphology is scarcely. Herein, we present some research results on this subject.
