FLUORESCENCE STUDIES OF THE COIL TO GLOBULE TRANSITION OF ACENAPHTHYLENE LABELED POLY(N,N-DIETHYLACRYLAMIDE) IN DILUTE AQUEOUS UREA SOLUTION
In general, the coil to globule transition (CGT) would occur in a very small temperature interval for long stiff polymer chains but span over a broad temperature interval for short flexible chains.1 However, there is a lack of quantitative information regarding the changes of the mobility of the chain occurring in the CGT.2 Fluorescence techniques, including quenching and anisotropy measurements, 3,4 have been used to study the effects of urea on the conformational behavior of acenaphthylene labeled poly (N, N-diethylacrylamide) (PDEA/ACE) in dilute aqueous solution.
