SELF-ASSEMBLY OF ORGANOMETALLIC BLOCK COPOLYMERS FOR STRUCTURE-DEFINED FUNCTIONAL NANOMATERIALS

In this talk, I will summarize our research on PFS block copolymers (PFS: polyferrocenylsilane) including controlled synthesis, self-assembly and material applications. PFS block copolymer synthesis. Living anionic ringopening polymerization (ROP) was used to polymerize silicon-bridged lferrocenophanes (1), leading to PFS block copolymers such as PFS-b-PMVS (2) (PMVS: polymethylvinylsiioxiane). Micellization of PFS block copolymers. Solution selfassembly of PFS block copolymers lead to onedimensional PFS micelles. Our studies indicated that several parameters, including temperature, solution conditions, polymer structures, could influence the aggregation behavior. Based on these studies, we have recently discovered a living supramolecular polymerization process for the synthesis of block comicelles (see Scheme 2).
