THE SELF-ASSEMBLY OF EC-g-PS COPOLYMERS IN ACETONE
The self-assembly of block and graft copolymers has been received increasing interested for their potential applications in many fields, such as drug carriers, and had been studied extensively from both theoretical and experimental aspects.1,2 Unimolecular and multimolecular micelles can be formed by intra- and inter-molecular association, respectively, in selective solvents.3,4 Cellulose is a natural polymer with the advantages of renewable, biodegradable and biocompatible properties. Cellulose and its derivatives are attractive in both academiC and industrial aspects. The chemical modification of cellulose has been studied extensively, whereas the study of the self-assembly is limited.5 In present work, dense graft copolymers, ethyl cellulose-gpolystyrene (EC-g-PS), with different length of the side PS chains were synthesized and the self-assembly of EC-g-PS copolymers in acetone were investigated by using DLS, TEM and SEM.
