EPITAXIAL GROWTH OF ORGANIC THIN FILMS FOR OPTOELECTRONIC
Research on oriented organic thin films is a major topic in constant progress. Growing oriented thin films is the best mean to bypass the well-known problem of growing defect-free large single crystals for organics. Considering the advantages of epitaxial growth, the control of molecular orientation and of the film thickness down to the monolayer or even the sub-monolayer as well as the control of the purity, we have favoured epitaxial growth for the films preparation. A few years ago, we were able to attain with epitaxially grown polycrystalline thin films, macroscopic properties equivalent to that of single crystals 1.
