STIMULI-RESPONSIVE POLYMER BRUSHES

Polymer brushes refer to an assembly of polymer chains which are tethered by one end to a surface or interface1. In this report, block copolymer brushes and mixed polymer brushes were synthesized by surface-initiated polymerization and grafting to approach. The responsive behavior of polymer brushes stimulated by pH and solvent were studied2,3. The polymer brushes undergo surface rearrangement owing to the reversible conformational change of tethered polymer chains. We also reported a new approach of driving motion of nanoparticles by reversible conformational change of polymer brushes4. Patterned self-adaptive PS/P2VP mixed polymer brushes were prepared by grafting to approach combining with microcontact printing5.
