OBSERVATION OF MICROPHASE-SEPARATED STRUCTURE OF POLYURETHANE ELASTOMERS BY TEMPERATURE DEPENDENT ATOMIC FORCE MICROSCOPY
Introduction Polyurethane elastomer (PUE) is a multiblock copolymer consisting of soft segment and hard segment. The microphase-separated structure of the PUE is affected by raw materials, synthesis temperature, thermal hysteresis, length of each segment and its distribution. Although one results on the microphase-separated structure of the PUEs observed by atomic force microscopy (AFM) at an ambient temperature were reported, temperature dependent observation by AFM has not been done yet. In this study, the microphase-separated structure of the PUE between -120 and 20 ℃ was observed by AFM.
