SELF-ASSEMBLY OF LINEAR ROD-COIL BLOCK COPOLYMERS
Rod-coil block systems have been payed a great deal of attention due to their rich phase behavior and potential for use in a variety of applications1. For the simplest coil-rod AB diblock copolymer, a lot of morphologies have been revealed in experiments25, e.g., lamellae, arrowhead lamellae, zigzag lamellae, wave lamellae, cylinders, honeycombs, and hollow spherical and cylindrical micelles. Especially, the rod blocks of coil-rod block copolymers may consist of conjugated polymers, which are known to have interesting electrical and photoactive properties. Self-assembly of such coilrod copolymer is presently considered to be the precursor to self-assembled electronic and optical devices 4.
