PATTERN TRANSITION OF PEO FROM FACETED DENDRITE TO SQUARE SHAPED FACETED CRYSTALS
Pattern formation and transition have attracted increasing interest in past decades.l-3 Crystal patterns formed in conditions far from equilibrium are non-faceted, because there is almost no nucleation barrier and diffusion-limited growth (DLG) governs the crystal growth process. In the case of (near) equilibrium condition nucleation-controlled growth (NLG) is the dominated mechanism, so welldefined macroscopic facets are expected.4,5 Although diverse non-faceted and faceted crystals have been found, there are no experimental results to quantitatively describe the transition from nonfaceted to faceted crystals. In this abstract, we will report our recent experimental results on this kind of crystal pattern transition.
