TEST RESEARCH ON LOW-MODULUS FIBER MORTAR DRY SHRINKAGE PERFORMANCE

Dry Shrinkage performance is one of the most important and intractable characteristic of mortar materials. Dry Shrinkage performances of mortars with two kinds of low-modulus fiber were tested based on the improved dry shrinkage test in the research. Bricks and cement were used to do the fundus of the sample. Test results show that shrinkage deformation reduction of fine fiber mortar can reach 49%~57% relative to plain mortar materials, while the reduction of coarse Scothcast fiber mortar is 20%~26%. On the other hand, molding sample with different fundus can impact the dry shrinkage performance of mortar, and the fluctuant range is 6%~28%. For both samples with and without fundus, dry shrinkage performance of fine fiber mortar is better than others. The phenomenon is mainly caused by the different contact area of the sample, and larger contact area can produce great felt effect. The contact area of mortar with fine modulus fiber is bigger, no matter fore-part or post-part of the test, the big felt effect can restrict the dry shrinkage of the sample.
