MICROSTRUCTURAL ANALYSIS OF THE VISCOELASTIC BEHAVIOR OF ASPHALT CONCRETES
This paper presents a methodology relating the microstructure of asphalt concretes to their visoelastic behavior. Digital image techniques are used to capture the asphalt concrete microstructure, and the finite element method is used to model the axial and shear moduli of asphalt concretes. Aggregates are modeled as linear elastic, and the mastics are modeled as viscoelastic.
