SAFETY ASSESSMENT OF RECYCLED CONCRETE COLUMNS DESIGNED ACCORDING TO CHINESE PRESENT DESIGN CODE
In accordance with the present design Codes in China, this paper investigates the influence on the reliability index of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) columns under the axial and eccentric compression due to the increased compressive strength variance of RAC. The effects of both the load type and the compressive strength characteristic value on the reliability index of RAC columns have been calculated and analyzed. It is concluded that poorer safety would be the case and some amendments should be taken into consideration when designing recycled aggregate concrete columns according to the present Chinese design codes.
