EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF FLEXURAL BEHAVIORS ON REINFORCED REACTIVE POWDER CONCRETE RECTANGULAR BEAMS
By four-point loading method, the flexural experiments of reinforced reactive powder concrete (RPC) rectangular beams with reinforcement rate 0%, 1.11%, 1.97% were carried out. The flexural load and midspan deflection curves were obtained. Experimental results show that: (1) Although there is only one crack on the destroyed RPC beam, reinforced RPC rectangular beams show remarkable failure characteristics of suitable-reinforced beam because of steel fibers cracking resistance. (2) The cracking loads of RPC rectangular beams with different reinforcement ratios are approximately equal, so reinforcement ratio has little effect on cracking load of RPC beams. (3) Yielding load and ultimate load of RPC beam have been significantly increased with improving reinforcement ratio. The ductility performances are also improved. (4) Because of the ultra-high compressive strength of RPC, the height of sections compression zone is very small for RPC beams with conventional reinforcement rate. Therefore, the tension reinforcement yields usually at a load less than the ultimate load, and the failure mode of over-reinforced beam cant appear. (5) The equations of flexural design for reinforced RPC rectangular section are proposed.
