ANALYSIS OF EXTERNALLY PRESTRESSED REINFORCED CONCRETE SIMPLE BEAMS UTILIZING ABAQUS
Externally prestressed reinforced concrete is one of the hot topics in prestressing technique research. The incompatibility of the deformation between external prestressing tendons and the beam makes the calculation of the externally prestressed reinforced concrete more difficult. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a common and effective way of numerical simulation. Abaqus is a powerful simulation software adopting this method. Considering both material and geometrical nonlinearity, this paper introduces in detail how to build the model of externally prestressed reinforced concrete simple beam utilizing Abaqus, including element selection, constitutive relationship selection, and meshing techniques etc. Based on data of experiment, a three-dimensional model of beam using Abaqus software is built, and three beams are simulated and analyzed in the whole process from loading to the failure limit of the structure. The numerically simulated responses by Abaqus are verified by comparison with experimental results.
