A NEW REINFORCED CONCRETE FRAME STRUCTURE
A new kind of reinforced concrete (RC) frame structure is proposed, which is composed of conventional RC frame structure and haunch braces. The haunch braces are connected rigidly with structural beams and columns. By adding the haunch braces the designing controlling cross sections located at the ends of beams and columns for RC frame structure are changed to the joints connecting the haunch braces with beams and columns, the moments at the designing controlling cross sections and the midspan deflections of the structural beams are significantly decreased. Experimental results show that the new developed RC frame structure with haunch braces exhibits good mechanical behaviors and its internal moments are almost the same as that of calculating by elastic structural analysis. It can be extensively applied to one or multilayer large span concrete buildings and other civil engineering constructions.
