STUDY ON THE LIMIT OF HEIGHT-TO-THICKNESS RATIO OF H-SECTION COLUMN WEB IN MULTI-STOREY LIGHT STEEL FRAME

Based on the quasi-static test for one planar light steel frame with single-storey and single-span, of which the height-to-thickness ratio for the column web of H-section is 69.3, several frames ranged from one to four stories are simulated by finite-element method. The axial ratio of column, loading system, constraint conditions et al., are invariant for the investigation. The variations of the loaddisplacement hysteresis curve and ductility are studied according to the variations of height-tothickness ratio of column web, and the relationship between the height-to-thickness ratio of column web and ductility coefficient is gained. Finally, the limits of height-to-thickness ratio of H-section column web for different seismic fortification intensities are proposed for designing light steel frame.
