BASIC DESIGN PARAMETER STUDY OF DIAGRID STRUCTURAL SYSTEM
Diagrid structural system is an innovative structural system which recently emerges as structurally efficient as well as architecturally significant assemblies for tall buildings. Due to the lateral load and vertical load are both resisted by the diagonal components, diagrid structural system has peat lateral stiffness and performance which are well applicable to high rise buildings. Two significant parameters: the diagonal angle and plan form were presented and analyzed in this paper. Further more, the relationships between the two parameters and the structural behavior including lateral stiffness and internal forces were analyzed by modeling a serious of three-dimensional structures. The optimal angle of diagonal members and the influence of plan form on structural stiffness were derived from structural mechanic methods and comparisons to the models. As a result, diagrid structures with optimal angle and appropriate plan form are verified to exhibit great lateral stiffness.
