FORM-FINDING METHOD OF CABLE-MEMBRANE STRUCTURES CONSIDERING CABLE FORCE-FINDING FROM APPROPIATE MOMENT

Form-finding analysis of actual cable-membrane projects, is not only aims to find stable shapes, but also used to find suitable cable pretension distribution. This paper is based on the nonlinear finite element method pattern theory, proposes a method which considering cable force-finding from the appropriate moment in the process of form-finding analysis. In order to study the applicability of the method, three form-finding cases are analyzed. From analyses results, only the method considering cable force-finding from the appropriate moment could get a stable shape and a proper cable pretension distribution. Lastly, using the form-finding method, a large cable-membrane stadium named FoShan Lotus is analyzed. It is found that the method can be used to large cable-membrane structures, it would get a stable shape and a proper cable pretension distribution rapidly.
