A PRACTICAL METHOD OF SETTLEMENT CALCULATION BASED ON STRESS PATH

摘要：

In order to achieve the reliability and convenience of calculating settlement, a practical method based on actual stress path was proposed. The present method used effective stress path equation that was from Skemptons pore water pressure theory to compute settlement, which has the advantages of explicit conception and simple form and the parameters easy to be obtained. A contrastive analysis was carried out for the effective-stress-path-based method and other methods such as that from the code of China. Results prove the proposed method is reliable, convenient and practical, which can be taken as a reference for engineering applications.
