EARTH PRESSURE STUDY OF HIGH FILLED CULVERT MODEL WITH SIMILAR MATERIAL
Guided by Similar index, model test and numerical simulation with culvert and fill material whole similarity was fulfilled to study earth pressure distribution of high filled culvert. Under four experiment behaviors, similar material model test completed through filled earth by layer and load press by grade. Adopted model experiment parameters, finite element simulated method analysis results at the meantime. The two methods verified each other to deduce that earth pressure distribution on top and side position is decided by soil arching effect and concentration of stress caused by differential soil settlement together. The paper analyzed the effects to soil pressure distribution with different filling material and foundation conditions. The results are valuable to calculate high filled culverts soil pressure correctly.
