TIME-DEPENDENT ANALYSIS OF REINFORCED CONCRETE THIN PLATE

The reinforced concrete thin plate is sensitive to time-dependent deflection and stress redistribution between concrete and reinforcement due to creep and shrinkage which possibly lead to crack under the action of dead load. Based on the assumption of small deflection of plate and ageing-adjusted modulus method (AAMM), a time-dependent equilibrium equation on bending flexure of thin plate considering the effect of creep of concrete and restraint of reinforcement is established, which is used to obtain the Levy solution for rectangular thin plate simply supported with four sides. A numerical example is studied showing that creep and shrinkage of concrete enlarge the deflection and causes serious stress redistribution between concrete and reinforcement of thin plate while reinforcement makes a significant contribution on restraining the time-dependent effect.
