THE STUDY ON THE ALKALI-AGGREGATE REACTION AFTER ELECTROCHEMICAL REALKALISATION TREATMENT
Alkali aggregate reaction is one of the factors that affect the concrete durability. It is impossible to estimate how much losses caused by this reaction in the world. The AAR is a possible side effect of electrochemical realkalisation treatment. The increased content of alkali ions and the production of hydroxyl ions might theoretically cause accelerated AAR for a concrete after electrochemical realkalisation treatment. The present paper seeks to answer the effect of electrochemical realkalisation treatment on the AAR. After the realkalisation test on the carbonated specimens using different realkalisation control parameters, the determination of alkali in the carbonated specimens are measured. The AAR are studied using quick mortar bar test method and the prism specimens with the dimensions of 40mm×40mm×160mm.The determination of alkali in the prism specimens are the same as in the carbonated specimens and adjusted by adding NaOH solution in the mortar. The expansion rates of the prism specimens cured as the curing conditions of the regulation are measured. The experimental results show that under the research conditions, the volume expansion of the prism specimens is not found in the test of length measurement; electrochemical realkalisation treatment is safe, has no potential hazard of AAR and doesnt lead to expansion cracks of components.
