REASON AND DYNAMIC ANALYSIS OF ADVERTISEMENT BILLBOARD DAMAGE CAUSED BY TYPHOON
According to lots of typhoon hazard investigations, advertisement billboard is one kind of the most vulnerable structures in southeast coastal cities of China, which not only made enormous economic loss, but also posed a threat to pedestrians security. The typical damage modes of billboard include that the cover such as the curtain and the iron sheet ripped from the main structure, the local buckling of steel truss members, and the collapse of the whole billboard from middle or bottom position. The main reason for destruction contains the insufficient connection between the cover and the steel truss, the lower strength of the steel member, not well designed, and bad quality of manufacture etc. The model of advertisement billboard was built through CFD software, and wind pressure distribution of different wind directions was obtained through numerical simulation. The oblique wind load was much more dangerous for billboard than windward direction. The calculation method of typhoon load and steel member resistance was given according to the typical failure modes. The wind damage states of billboard were graded. At last, a huge billboard model was built by using finite element software ANSYS with the investigation data of typhoon Parrot as input wind load, meanwhile, the wind induced dynamic response of billboard and damage level were achieved. The method of this paper could be used in the prediction and estimation of the advertisement billboard damage and loss caused by typhoon hazard; furthermore it can be used for billboard design and typhoon damage reduction.
