SIMULATION ANALYSIS OF SMOKE CHARACTERISTIC FOR TRAIN FIRE IN METROPOLIS RAILWAY TUNNEL
The railway tunnel is the key point of railway transportation system. However, the railway tunnel fire is also the main disaster potential because of its long and narrow space underground, particularly for metropolis railway tunnel. Once the train fire takes place in railway tunnel, the poisonous smog and hot smoke caused by train fire will result in a large number of death and injury as well as great property damage. In order to enhance fire protection level of metropolis railway tunnel, smoke flow distribution characteristics were mainly analyzed in this paper by taking a metropolis railway tunnel as an application example. Based on CFD simulation method, different scenarios of longitudinal ventilation velocity (16 MW train fire in the middle part of the shied tunnel) were simulated respectively. In terms of the simulation above, the smoke flow characteristics, including smoke distribution inside the tunnel and visibility, were demonstrated. Consequently, the results would be adopted for fire safety design and management of this kind of metropolis railway tunnel.
