AN OPTIMAL DAMPING DEVICES DESIGN WITH TWO DIRECTIONS FOR THREE DIMENSIONAL BUILDING STRUCTURE
In this paper, the damping devices designs of optimal vibration control for three dimensional building structures are presented by considering the coupling of x-direction and y-direction. The mathematical model for a typical three-dimensional shear-type building structure is established. The energy performance indexes of control devices are proposed according to the stochastic dynamics. Based on these indexes, the optimal number and placement of passive control devices can be determined and the parametric optimization of dampers can also be obtained in the way of Pattern Search Method. Numerical example demonstrates the lateral displacement of the building structure can be reduced dramatically in two directions.
