APPLICATION OF MATRIX AND QUATERNION IN THE LARGE DEFORMATION ANALYSIS OF STRUCTURES
The beginning of paper illustrates that it is inappropriate to deal with the angle incremental by simple linear superposition, because rotations are non-exchangeable. Two methods are then present here to solve the problem of angles superposition in the large deformation analysis of structures. The basic principles of rotation matrix and quaternion are presented. The conclusion that these two methods have same precision but the method of quaternion has better efficiency is made after the comparison of them. Finally, the paper briefly introduces the method of forming the member orientation matrix and the application of quaternion in this process.
