The role of IMS in the World of Maintenance
This paper presents the activities related to maintenance subjects undertaken by the Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (IMS), which is an industry-led, international research and development (R&D) initiative. The strategy and the functioning of IMS are presented as well as the various projects directly dealing with maintenance, product life-cycle management and asset management. Finally, the activities of ICIMSI-SUPSI in the World of Maintenance are described focusing on those already integrated into IMS projects and Manufacturing Technology Platforms (MTP) as well as on those currently carry out independently in the field of maintenance education.
