FACILITY MANAGEMENT IN INDUSTRY
Facility Management is considered a good practice for allowing Clients to concentrate on their core competencies in the tertiary sector of economy. Its extension to Industry, however, confronts to additional questions. Insufficient evaluation of specificities can not only create resistance in the rows of the Client but also lead to a wrong estimate of the project profitability. Both Client and Facility Services Agent share the financial risk. The interdependence of maintenance and operations when evaluating the outsourcing of engineering services is in the center of the question. Inadequate maintenance strategies can have adverse effects on the Clients operations and on the substance of fixed assets. The Client cannot elude his civil liability in outsourced services. Facility Management in Industry has to consider an unsuspected number of technical and human factors in ‘make or buy decisions to approach its objectives.
