Education of maintenance personnel as a part of education of physical assets managers
Within optimization of resources, due to primarily focusing on the “core business, the number of technical personnel in companies is being cut severely. Thus, maintenance personnel are becoming the dominant technical personnel. Consequently, knowledge and skills necessary for maintaining the assets are often preserved only at the equipment producers. At the same time, in-house maintenance personnel, focused mainly on maintenance management, take care of equipment for its entire life-cycle. This leads to the orientation of in-house maintenance personnel from a relatively static maintenance of equipment to the field of physical asset management (PAM) -maximizing asset performance and reliability while minimizing overall cost of ownership.
