EXTENSION OF QUARTIC BEZIER CURVES WITH MULTIPLE SHAPE PARAMETERSIN THE FIRST AND THE END BASIS FUNCTIONS

A class of quintic polynomial basis functions with three shape parameters was presented by the extension of quartic Bemstein basis functions.The first and the end basis functions all had two shape parameters that were the extension of one parameter in other literatures; properties of quintic basis functions with three shape parameters were analyzed and then a polynomial curve was defined based on the basis functions.The curve not only inherits the outstanding properties of the quartic Bezier curve, but it is also adjustable in shape and the two classes of curves in literature are especial examples.That λ,α,β parameters impact on curve is analyzed.Some examples illustrate that the curve defined by the first and the end basis functions with multiple shape parameters provides an effective method for designing curves.
