3D Porosity Simulation of Porous Media Using Continuous Multiple-point Geostatistics
Multiple-point geostatistics (MPS) simulation originates from geostatistical fields and allows extracting multiple-point structures from training images, after that MPS can copy these structures to the regions to be simulated. Porosity is quite significant to the characterization and prediction of transport properties. To simulate the porosity value, a porosity simulation method using continuous MPS based on filters is proposed to simulate the continuous values of porosity. Filters are used to realize dimension reduction, and a filter score space can be created by using filters. All similar training patterns fall into a cell in the filter score space to form a prototype. During simulation, a training pattern from a cell is randomly drawn, and pasted back onto the simulation grid. Experimental results show that our method is better than two-point geostatistics, and regenerates the characteristics of the training image well.
