The Application and Method of Optimum Insulation Thickness for Ezterior Walls of Residential Buildings in Summer Hot and Winter Cold Zone of China
Thermal insulation is one of the most effective energy conservation measures for cooling and heating in buildings. Therefore, determining and selecting the optimum thickness of insulation is main subject of many engineering investigations. In this study, the determination of optimum insulation thickness on external walls of buildings which is fit to the Summer Hot and Winter Cold Zone is comparatively analyzed by the method of Life Cycle Cost Analysis based on annual heating and cooling loads and the function of net energy saving and payback period of insulation cost is given. The result of the study indicated that optimum insulation thickness for extruded polystyrene which fits to Maanshan is 0.058mm.
