Energy Saving Potential of Double-Skin Facade Buildings with Active Adaptive Operation in Winter

Energy saving cannot be achieved with incorporate operation of double-skin facade buildings which are designed sustainable especially in hot summer cold winter area in China. With the investigation of occupants active adaptive operation custom and the analysis of actual energy consumption of a building with double-skin facade in Nanjing in winter, two groups of experiments were organized in order to reveal the influence of different active adaptive patterns on energy consumption and thermal performance of double-skin facade. The results expose the potential of energy saving of double-skin facade buildings in winter in hot summer cold winter area with the proper operation of interior facade openings and shading devices. Straightaway operation notice and designated executor are suggested.
