Testing and Diagnosis on a Heating System in Beijing

Most buildings are in high energy consumption due to poor insulation performance and low energy efficiency. Since the retrofit of existing buildings for the improvement of insulation performance is not cost effective, a better way for energy conservation is to improve the energy efficiency of the heating systems. This paper provides the site investigation and testing of a heating system including basic information of the buildings and heating system, boiler house efficiency, flue gas heat loss and network heat loss as well as indoor temperature, based on which the existing problems of the system are involved for discussion and the retrofit program for improvement is put forward accordingly. The economic feasibility of the program is analyzed as follows. The study shows the pay-back time is only 2.22 years.
