Performance Testing and Validation for the Medical and Science Building of Taipei Veterans General Hospital
The Medical and Science Building of Taipei Veterans General Hospital is a new 15-layer construction of the medical and biotechnology building. The use of the unique nature of this building must meet the hardware and software requirements related to HVAC, electrical and mechanical engineering based on the guideline of biosafety in microbiological and biomedical laboratories (BMBL). This building contained BSL-3 biocontainment, the animal center and many special experiment instruments as well as facilities. Industrial Technology Research Institute as a third party was invited to play the role of engineering consultant and commissioning with relate to BSL-3 laboratories and isolation ward of this building. The scope of performance testing and validation included the following items: (1) air balance review, static pressure, ventilation rate, temperature, humidity and noise of biosafety level 3 biocontainment, (2) HEPA, (3) double door autoclave (4) biosafety cabinet (BSC)
