Ezperimental Research on the Operational Characteristics of Free Cooling Boz For Communication Base Station

To reduce the energy consumption in communication base station, according to the technical characteristics of existing communication base station fir-conditioning system, the viewpoint of free cooling is proposed. The energy efficiency scheme is: introduction of outdoor low temperature air to directly cool the indoor air of communication base station. A new type of free cooling unit is set up in our laboratory. That is, free cooling box (FCB). This type of FCB can reduce the running time of existing air-conditioning and achieve remarkable energy efficiency. In this free cooling experimental system, the operational mode can be automatically or manually switched according to the requirement. The experimental data can be collected and stored by IPC (Industrial Personal Computer). By doing experiment, experimental data are obtained. Its dynamic changes of air flow volume, running current, fan shaft speed, and EER of the system at different static pressure, are illustrated. The energy efficiency characteristic of FCB is researched in this paper. The result shows that the scheme of temperature control for FCB has good energy efficiency effect. It decreases the power consumption for air-conditioner. The aims of saving energy and protecting environment are achieved. It can be taken as a reference for developing this new technique.
