The Research on Ground Source Heat Pumps in China
The Ground-Source Heat Pump (GSHP) is a technology of renewable energy, which increasingly attracts world-wide attention due to its advantages in high energy efficiency and low environmental impacts. The research on GSHP started relatively much later in China than in developed countries. At the end of 1980s, some investigation on the performance of the GSHP systems started, by means of experimenting and testing. Till the end of 1990s, theoretical and experimental studies in all aspects of GSHP were carried out, mainly supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. In this paper, the research status of GSHP systems in China are summarized and analyzed in detail. Due to Chinas huge area and different climatic zones, restriction of water resource and environmental policies, the research of GSHP in China has its own characteristics. Furthermore, different types of GSHP systems have their own characters, leading to different research subjects. So the research subjects are analyzed based on different types. With the support of Chinese government, some theoretical achievements have been attained. Several new heat transfer model and a new GSHP systems, which called pumping and recharging well (PRW), were the typical achievements developed by Chinese researchers. These achievements of GSHP are promotive to the application of GSHP systems in China.
