Ezperimental Study of Cooling Performance of Gravity Air-conditioning
Gravity air-conditioning operates on the principle of natural convection and displacement ventilation. It contains plastic capillary tubes as the basic heat exchange unit, with cold water circulating inside, and cycling power induced by density difference between hot and cold air. By means of the unique operation principles and special material, this air-conditioning can supply cooling completely in silence, with larger heat exchange area, high efficiency and no damage to environment. This paper investigates gravity air-conditioning by experiment, aiming at providing some useful data and results concerning its cooling capacity. The results will be the support for future research and engineering application. This experiment was carried out at ISO Test Board for Thermal Characteristics of Heating Appliance in Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) which was refitted partly according to cooling condition. The maximal cooling capacity is 1579.2W in this experiment, which can meet requirement of common residential building. The recommended regulation mode is to change supply water temperature. Genera/ relation formula based on the experiment data can apply to engineering projects for design and regulation.
