A New Water Source Heat Pump Water Heater and Chiller
This paper presents a new water source heat pump water heater and chiller system. The system consists of four stages. Cold water is heated in series in the four stages to be heated from cold to a relatively high temperature (e.g., 20℃ temperature rise), and the water returned from the air conditioning terminals is cooled parallel in the four stages to drop the temperature by about 5~C. Among the features of the system are 1) Unique design, making chilled water directly and hot water at the same time; 2) Super efficient. Saves up to 85% of energy; 3) Four-stage heating, cold feed water in and hot water out, less flow rate and circulations, saves the power consumed by water circulating pump; 4) Double wall heat exchanger heats portable water directly, no needs to have the intermediate water-to-water heat exchanger and the circuit between the heater and the heat exchanger; therefore it is more efficient and less trouble than the heat pump system with single wall heat exchangers.
