Performance Study on a Heat Pump Driven Three-stage Liquid Desiccant Deep Dehumidification Processor

The paper presents a new type of three-stage liquid desiccant deep dehumidification processor, using lithium bromide. Three small-capacity heat pump cycles are involved in the processor, in which the cooling capacity from the evaporator is used to cool liquid desiccant, and exhaust heat fiom condenser is used to regenerate the desiccant. This deep dehumidification processor can dehumidify the outdoor humid air to rather dry state (lower than 5g/kg), even there is no available indoor exhaust air. Two groups of performance tests have been made. The first group of test data show the COP of the processor is 1.8 and the supplied air temperature and humidity ratio are 1.6~2.6℃ and 2.6~3.0g/kg in the outdoor air condition of 28~31℃ and 11~14g/kg. One solution pipeline link problem has been found during the first tests, which will lead to the mixture losses of hot and cold liquid desiccant. So some pipelines are modified to minimum the mixing losses and the second tests have been processed after the modification. For the new processor, the later test data show that in the outdoor air condition of 25~32℃ and 18~21g/kg, the COP of the processor is 2.8 and the supplied air parameters are 3.2--4.0℃ and 3.4~3.6g/kg. The mathematical model of the deep dehumidification processor is built and well validated by the tested results. The simulation result depicts that the pipeline link modification may improve the performance by about 20%.
