Decay Rates and Time Lags of Heat Conduction in Building Construction Under Field Conditions

This paper reports field measurements of decay rates and time lags of heat conduction in building construction taken in Nanjing during 2001 summer. A method for the analysis of field data is also presented that involves calculating decay rates and time lags of heat conduction in building construction under field conditions. We find that the measured values match very well with theoretical values for the 0th and the 1 st order of the decay rates and time lags of heat conduction in building construction but the difference between the test values and theoretical values is too large to be accepted for the 2nd order. It is therefore difficult to accurately test the 2nd order. However, it is still advisable to calculate the decay rates and time lags of heat conduction in building construction under field conditions using the 1 st order, because in this case, values have already reached twenty times those needed to meet the requirements of engineering plans.
